Culture Day, Moray 2013
goNORTH partnered with Culture Day to produce a curated programme of events during its inaugural event on 21st September 2013. On a bright and sunny Saturday across three villages the community was connected not only by the various modes of transport available, from rickshaws to bike hire, but also culturally and creatively. Artists, musicians, filmmakers, craftmakers, creative businesses and community groups of all sorts opened their doors and exhibited their talents in a one day celebration of the rich and diverse creativity in the area.
goNORTH started off the day with a screening programme from Highlands and Islands and Scotland wide filmmakers in the Moray Arts Centre in Findhorn. In the afternoon we held an informal seminar where goNORTH Festival Director, Amanda Millen, goNORTH Producer for Music, Alex Smith, Head of Creative Industries at HIE, Iain Hamilton, Rawk Music’s Alex Howell and Be Like Pablo frontman Ewen Watson discussed the support available for creative practitioners establishing themselves across Screen and Broadcast, Music, Fashion and Crafts.
Culture Day NIGHT saw early evening sets around town including Jemma Tweedie in The Abbey Inn, Kinloss and Toby Michaels in Legends, Forres. The closing gig at the Mosset later on kicked off with the high energy four piece, The Oxides, followed by local band Be Like Pablo and headlined by Fatherson. Dave Martin & Graeme Rogers DJ set finished off the night with a full house. Take a look through the images from the day on our facebook page.
Thank you all for coming along to the various events, the support was fantastic. It’s really important to us to connect with you outside of our annual two day festival in June. It is also a fantastic opportunity for you to find out more about us and how we can support your creative endeavours.
